Fully Insulated Sleeping Boxes

This is one of the main features of our products, & we pride ourselves on being one of the few dog kennel builders in New Zealand that offer this option. We think that is by far a must have for your dog kennel. New Zealand has a very harsh climate, both hot and cold weather can be experienced all over New Zealand and our insulation helps keep your dog warm in those cold harsh winter nights as well as cool in the summer heat.

We now also offer an option to insulate your kennel with Terra Larna Wool.

All exterior walls, floor & roof is insulated to reduce any heat loss as well as a door flap to keep that driving weather out.

Insulated kennels are a must have for any working dog that returns to the kennel after a hard winters day work, a warm and dry place to rest is the least they should expect.

Build Strength

All our products are built with galvanized fixings to ensure they stand the test of time. We pride ourselves on the strength and robust qualities of our products, the frame work of our kennels is held together with heavy duty batten screws, used in commercial home building, as well as annular grooved nails for added strength. All our netting products are securely attached with barbed staples to stop time and weather moving them like the traditional plain staple.

Our kennels are not light, they are designed to stay put in the harshest of New Zealand’s weather. We achieve this by using the heavy duty fixing but on top of this we use large gauge timber to increase strength and stability. Our frame work is built with 100mm x 100m & 100mm x 50mm timber, as well as structural grade plywood. When comparing other products on the market, note the timber gauge and fixing qualities. This is an easy way for manufacturers to save on cost, and potentially reducing the quality of the kennel.

The strength of our kennels is testament to the fact that we design our double and single bay kennels to be relocated on skids by 4x4 with no adverse effect to the kennel (common sense applies).

Anti-Chew

All our kennels come with anti-chew features. This is one of the first places kennels deteriorate, not Southern Cross Dog Kennels. We have designed our kennels to have minimal chewing surfaces, which will help prolong the already long life of our kennels. All the anti-chew surfaces are fully zinc protected attached with galvanized fixings.

Timber Treatment

At Southern Cross Dog Kennels, we are all about producing products that will last many dog’s life times and stand the test of time. Another feature that helps increase longevity is the timber treatment. It goes without saying all our timber is treated to a minimum of H3.2. In addition to this we upgrade the treatment of the grating timber to H4 as this is one of the high-risk places to deteriorate first for obvious reasons. This is another important factor to consider when comparing other kennels on the market.
